Our 1953 Mechanic Bib is one of the most iconic pieces of workwear. In the early stages of denim workwear they were called overalls not bibs. This is because the garments were designed to be worn over other garments like wool trousers and wool shirts.
The fit was bigger so the go “overall”. Therefore vintage bibs always have a comfortable and wide fit.
The 1953 Mechanic Bib is more of a 1950s orientated overall. Designs in that time where it was not necessarily meant to be worn over other garments. Hence the leg width is a little more narrow than on the examples of the 1930s. Nevertheless still roomy enough to allow a good movement whilst working.
