Whenever you are in the New Jersey area, make sure to pay Roger and Josefina in their fabulous “The City Workshop” in West Orange,NJ, a visit.
It all started when Roger Stevens and his wife Josefina decided they wanted to bring a men`s shop to their neighbourhood in West Orange, New Jersey.
They didn`t realize they were creating a men`s casual lifestyle shop, since they just wanted to set up a cool place where men could feel comfortable purchasing the highest quality products, but uncommon in availability. The City Workshop started with denim which has been an American staple for over 100 years. They began to source brands whose collective stories resonated with them on many levels such as quality, detail, craftsmenship, giving back, civic duty and environmental consciousness. They started with American made products and then expanded globally. This is how Pike Brothers came into focus.
Since the shop initially was for their community they wanted to theme to relate to one of the most prominent figures of West Orange,NJ, Thomas A. Edison. When Edison left Menlo Park, NJ, he moved to West Orange, where he built a larger lab which is 2 blocks away from the shop. So, in homage, the brick and mortar has an industrial workshop feel and the logo includes Edison filament bulb, synonymous with his ideas. And of course, the core products of The City Workshop reflect that classic American workwear aesthetic.
