1965 CWU Jacket sage green O&E

CWU – The beginning of modern functional clothing .

The abbreviation stands for Cold Weather Uniform. A layering system that was developed in the early 1960s by the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force for a better protection of their pilots. Especially high altitude flying and remote air bases were always challenging for personnel to keep them warm and functioning. In WW2 mostly natural fibres were used for keeping pilots warm. During the late 1940s and early 1950s researches developed new forms of insulation with technical fibres. With these improvements  jackets became thinner and warmer.

Our new CWU jackets are a part of this system. They are made with a thick quilted polyamid which is lightweight, abrasion resistant and offers good insulation. This jacket was meant to be worn under the actual flight suit or jacket and therefore acts a layering system.

We have used the same original padded polyamid for warmth. Three outer pockets and an original spec label mark it as an item of true military origin.

We offer the CWU Jacket in two colors. The original sage green and in a classic black.

Further Details of the 1965 CWU Jacket are:

-outer fabric: 100% Polyamid
-lining: 100% Polyester
-push buttons
-3 front pockets
-box fit
-made in Turkey
