Alcatraz White - The Prison Stripes

Pike Brothers Bluebird Bus with Driver in Prison Stripes

The Prison stripes originated in the 19th century as a form of inmate identification and public humiliation and as identification

for prisoners who escaped

Over time, the bold pattern became a symbol of rebellion and outsider status and was worn from the late 1960s onwards.

In biker culture, prison stripes were adopted not for their punitive origin but for what they came to represent:

defiance, nonconformity, and an "outlaw" spirit.

Whether worn on jackets, shirts, or accessories, stripes echo a raw, anti-establishment attitude that aligns with the

freedom-loving, rule-breaking ethos of motorcycle clubs and vintage biker style.
